Brown rice

Brown rice keeps the bran and germ that are lost when white rice is refined. That gives it more fibre, more nutrients and that slightly nutty flavour, along with a firm, satisfying texture that keeps you full for longer.

It needs a little more cooking and water than white rice, but in return it offers a grain with character that holds up well and doesn't turn stodgy.

Thanks to its fibre and lower glycaemic index, brown rice is the favourite of those who watch what they eat without giving up on flavour. It's perfect in bowls, warm salads, vegetable stir-fries or as a hearty side for meat and fish.

Cook extra and keep it: it holds up beautifully in the fridge for quick, balanced meals all week long.
