How did the idea of Your spanish shop come out?

First, we would like to highlight that we have always been passionate about online shopping, we found fascinating the possibility of adquiring any product difficult to locate in your city, at any time, from any device and have it delivered to your home in a few days… Some time ago our sister moved to Germany, we sent her packages with food constantly and she always told us how difficult was for Spanish people she interacted with to localize products from ur country, this was a recurring topic in their meetings… how much they missed their families, friends and Spanish products!

Your Spanish Shop was created thinking in all the Spanish people that because of professional, familiar or academical reasons, live outside our country in a momentary way or permanently and our objective is to cure the homesickness for all of the expatriates.

Who takes part in the project team?

We are a familiar company with two sisters, Begoña and Duvi, leading the project. We also have a good team of collaborators that help us in the logistic, online marketing, administrative management, etc.

What services do you offer?

We sell national brands food products intended for Spanish people who live in the European Union countries, families who desire to send the best from our land to their expatriates relatives in a fast and comfortable way and foreigners who are in love with the varied Spanish gastronomy.

How do you manage the logistic of shipping?

Logistics have a very important role in an online shop. When we make an order through the internet we all want to enjoy our purchase as soon as possible. One of the clues to encourage client loyalty is to guarantee that the order shipping will be as fast as possible, that the service is door to door, to give constant information and awareness during the transit and that packages are delivered in the best conditions. We work with several companies that have to meet these requirements that we consider essential. The face of an online platform is the logistics company, that is why distribution becomes a fundamental element to guarantee the success of any e-commerce business.

What role do social media play in your project?

Media is a communication channel which allows us to keep us to date about the necessities and desires of our clients and supporters. We count with a very cohesive community, mainly on Facebook, which participates actively. On those channels we try to show our nicest face, and help us to break that coldness and distance online channel has. Many of the clients have a look at our Facebook wall before buying and check that we are people to trust. Here it helps us a lot our clients valuations, who are very generous sharing them on our page. 

What has been the reception of your products in the Spanish expatriates?

The reception has been amazing!! We have a very personalized and close relationship with our clients that write us continuously thanking us for “existing”, they tell us about how much they miss our great olive oil, eating some lentils with chorizo, having their favorite biscuits for breakfast or have some Iberian tapas. But not only expatriates buy our products (that has been our real surprise), many foreigners that love our country and gastronomy also do it. In fact, currently, only 50% of our clients are Spanish. This is something fantastic since what we really want is to be closer to everyone who has a link with Spanish gastronomy and that, living outside Spain, does not have easy access to it.

What has it meant for you to participate and be finalists in the E-volution Awards?

We sign up almost as a coincidence and because of the insistence of our online marketing consultant, who is one more of our team. Since our beginnings we have put a lot of effort in making the web complete and easy to use, we have made many changes and improvements basing on the behavior of the users in order to adapt to their way of using the web. The loading speed, products presentation, availability in four languages and functions like the searcher or the shipping cost calculator make the shopping experience easier for our clients, and are part of our success. But what have surprised us the most is the support we have had in the popular voting by our followers and clients. Apart from the joy of being finalists, that has been our greatest satisfaction. Our people’s support.

Do you have any other project apart from the online shop?

We haven’t planned to “materialize” with physical stores, if that is what you are asking, at least for now. Apart from enhancing our catalog of references and ease of use and purchase, we are turning to the development of an App to facilitate mobile purchases, although this is a medium-term project. We also plan to expand the web to more languages, and expand our range of action to more countries, but without losing focus on our customers and current markets.

How do you see the future of the digital society?

 Huge. Digitization is increasingly incorporated into more businesses, more processes, and more areas. The ease of connection, contact, or resolution of procedures, is something that we may not realize, but that has been a huge change to how things were done just 10 or 15 years ago. Each time we will be more digital, but at the same time we will look for more real and higher quality experiences. Companies have to take care that digitalization helps us to be closer to our customers, although they may find themselves further away; and this respecting their privacy and privacy; keeping us available, but avoiding that they feel uncomfortable, persecuted or watched.
