The production area of the lentils protected by the Protected Geographical Indication "Lenteja de La Armuña" is made up of 38 municipal districts, wholly belonging to the privileged region of Armuña, in the northwest of the province of Salamanca.
The typical climate of the region, its fertile and deep soils and the richness in organic matter provide unique characteristics to this region, which make its lentils the most appreciated in the world.
The physical characteristics of this variety are:
Color: light green, sometimes mottled green.
State of the seed: healthy, smooth, symmetrical, homogeneous and whole.
Size: up to nine millimeters in diameter; 1,711 seeds / 100 gr.
Skin hardness: Fine skin, imperceptible to the palate.
Flavor: Very intense and pleasant sensations.
